The Museful Mind

Safe Haven

Waves crashing against the rocks

The waves crash ever higher around me; dark storm-clouds are threatening nigh.
A safe harbour is sorely needed; ‘lead me to the rock that is higher than I.’

My heart feels so weary and heavy, every step is an effort to take.
I look to God’s arms for shelter; and trust He will never forsake.

Lighthouse against the waves

For the Lord hears the cry of the needy;
his children beloved and dear.
Securing for them a strong tower,
to ease all their worries and fears.

The world is uncertain and crazy, those in power unbalanced and mad.
Destroying the life that we cherish; they care not that it’s getting so bad.

But how do we cope in the meantime, as society spins out of control?
Such damage and harm are beyond repair; for the hurt lodges deep in our soul!

Now the Lord will provide a sure fortress;
gathering us faithfully neath His wings.
For the rock that is higher than we are,
offers refuge from the pain of life’s stings.

Waves crash against a rocky point showing a lighthouse

God knows the troubles we’re facing, the heart-break and sorrowful news.
The mis-trust and disturbing events taking place; how great such uncertainty wounds.

Distant lighthouse on rocky coast during sunset

So, turning to Him for protection;
on the rock that is higher than I.
We rest assured that prayers will be heard;
for the Father doth always reply.

He answers in ways that are best; sometimes different from that which is asked.
For He sees the overall picture of things, which is far beyond what we can grasp.

Therefore, we must cultivate patience; and trust in His Heavenly ways.
Safe upon that high rock of refuge, we can wait out these difficult days.

Given time, our lives will get better;
the world’s troubles will ease and subside.
Once again we’ll know peace and the joys of life –
til then, in God’s Love we can safely abide.

For God is the rock of my strength and my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, pour out your heart before Him.
For power belongeth unto God.

(inspired by the words found in Psalms 61 and 62)

    Beautifully written words and thoughts as we experience our difficult political world. You leave us remembering
    that God’s love for us will bring peace and joy to our lives in the end.
