The Lord he is my rampart; my shield in troubled times.
He walks beside me day and night,
In these dark and stress-filled climes.
He is my shelter faithfully, on this I can rely.
So boldly step along life’s road,
with a sure and steady stride.
For the night will hold no terror,
the shadows hide no dread.
The bolts and barbs that daylight bring,
Won’t discourage my sure tread.
Misfortunes will not shake me, nor burden me with grief.
Dismay and fear can’t find a place,
Within God’s loving sheath!
Though the world around me crumble; falling into disarray.
The chaos will not touch me,
or disrupt my steady way.
For the Lord provides a shelter, a haven from the storm.
I will not feel the cold of night,
Nor the daytime’s searing scorn.
His feathers will protect me;
neath his wings, I find some peace.
The refuge there is welcome,
As it brings a sweet release.
Here my heart can be at ease,
from the troubles of this world.
And my mind can know some rest,
From the anxious thoughts that swirl.
The Angels are commanded to watch over all my ways.
My steps may swerve and falter,
But I will not fall or stray.
These Angels lift me up, help me find a footing sure;
Guide me safely through each day,
So that I can feel secure.
God’s Love is my protection; all I have to do is call.
He is near to me and answers,
So no trouble can befall.
The refuge this provides, keeps me safe along life’s way.
When upset or feeling worried…
I simply fold my hands, and pray.
