Another year has come and gone for our intrepid friends.
It’s been a time of ups and downs, the adventure never ends.
The path they walked had twists and turns; some welcome, and some not.
But they met each challenge head held high, with nary a second thought.
Yes, they plowed right through the
roller-coaster that life can sometimes be.
And stood together side-by-side with
aplomb and empathy.
They gather still with all the crew
from the little Yellow House,
Enjoying the company, games and fun,
as they generally carouse.
(See The Tale of Mary and Erica Robin)
Their love of music took on form in the shape of Skinny Lister,
The concert was a sheer delight, debuting there in Worcester.
Afterward they met the group, whom they’ve known for many years.
And made sure to include dear Christopher with a Lister souvenir.
They celebrated Matty G
as his birthday rolled around,
When Nikki hosted all his friends –
oh, the good times just abound!
There was Festivus held at Erica’s,
where the fellowship was hearty,
And then on to Aggie’s house,
for a joyous New Year’s Party!
But life can’t all be fun and games, it just doesn’t work that way.
Nature will maintain a balance, much to our sorrow and dismay.
When Tam lost her sweet mother, the dear friends gathered by her side,
With Ellen-Rose they held her hand, love and comfort to provide.
Then Chris fell into trial, with its challenges and pain,
Much support for him and Mary, helped lift spirits and sustain.
For it’s true that joy is doubled, and troubled times are cut in half.
When friends walk close beside, and remind you how to laugh.
And let’s not forget the fur babies,
lest the girls say I’m remiss,
So I must include a mention
of their names in all justice.
Erica walks it close with Ginger Puss
and the lovely Princess B…
While Marybeth has Mister Zeke,
and that crazy Trinity!
Special family brightens up their days, warming hearts and giving bliss.
Marybeth visits dear friend Heather, doting on her Godson Sylis.
Erica hangs with brother Adam, but most of all loves seeing,
Her dearest niece Kiki – who is her favourite human being!
Yet, despite the ups and downs
that this life can sometimes bring,
They stay true to themselves and others,
always kind and smiling.
They live it to the fullest
with their warm and caring hearts.
And at this special time of year –
in spite of these remarks…
I wish them each a Birthday, that is filled with fun and laughter.
And in the years to come may they know Happy ever after.
So as you celebrate this year, on your special day of days,
Please accept felicitations as this verse my love conveys.

This was just a delight to read, and what a gift to both girls they will treasure forever. I’m reminded of a brother-in-law’s mother, who wrote poetry her whole life as you do. She passed almost 20 years ago, but had self-published two books of poetry by then. It’s a special gift you both possess, and I’m grateful you share it with others.
Thank you for responding. I loved hearing the story of your brother-in-law’s mother. As you say what a gift. And I am complimented that you think I am like her!! Your words warm my heart!!!
