The Museful Mind

The Tale of Mary and Erica Robin

White daisy within a heart of pale lavender

Once upon a time is how the story always starts,
And this Tale is no exception as we tell of two dear hearts.
It began about 12 years ago in twenty-ten plus one,
With some friends getting together looking for a little fun.

Amid the sleepy town of Avon
they found a place to meet,
In a lovely yellow house
nestled on a quiet street.
This place was named Petoria,
and when I asked them why?
They said it was for Peter
on the TV’s ‘Family Guy’.

So, these folks gathered on weekends to relax and have some fun.
Marybeth met Erica Robin and a friendship was begun.
They’ve had numerous adventures and shared a lot of laughs,
With a crazy sense of humour which can drive us all quite daft.

Across the years this group of friends from the little yellow house,
Have remained so close together, and met often thereabouts.
With Ellen, Tam, and Jessica they’ve had great nights of games,
Along with Aggie, Chris, and Cody it’s been anything but tame.

here’s Matt J. and Matty G.
to round the numbers out.
And Heather, Tim, Marcia –
lets give them all a shout!

Such a loyal group of friends you can’t find no matter where,
That have gathered from all over  just to be together there.
And share life’s joys with Marybeth and Erica Robin too.
Without this friend-like family love, whatever would we do?

There are movie nights of horror starring ‘Scream’ and Stephen King.
Friday dinners at Tahiti for a little added zing.
Crab Rangoon and chicken fingers are the order of the day.
And some Peking ravioli helps to make it so gourmet.

The girls love their pets to pieces,
Erica Robin has her cats.
Ginger Puss and Princess B,
such feline aristocrats.

nd Marybeth with doggies two,
are such lovely company.
They make an oddly funny pair
Mister Zeke and Trinity.

With authors Kerouac and Kreeft,
their minds are quite sublime.
Cause, this is how these two friends
like to spend their reading time.

And when October 19th came with Mary’s wedding glory,
Erica Robin, maid of honor, regaled guests with her oratory.
Amidst exciting wedding plans she maintained our sanity,
And with graceful aplomb welcomed Christopher into the family!

Now, life can be a little rough,
with its many ups and downs.
The joys mixed with the sorrow
is what makes the world go round.
We would rather our path’s journey
be much easier than this,
But circumstance says otherwise,
it can’t always be bliss.

Yet with such enduring friendships
full of care and kindness true,
You can count upon encouragement from the dear Petoria Crew.
As the challenges of life are faced, they’ll always see you through!

So, joining with such awesome friends to celebrate your birthdays,
I wish you love and happiness; and peace in your life always!
I’m very proud and filled with joy to have you call me Mother,
(or Mama Bev, as the case may be)
God blessed me with two beautiful souls, and I would not have it other.

    1. The kids got such a charge out of this. It was a lot of fun to write. Makes a very ‘different’ sort of birthday present! Thanks for your comment Barb!
