A cold and dark December, bids us come and step inside.
Nature’s calendar has turned, winter’s rule doth now abide.
So the heart must quell a shiver, as attuned to warmth and light-
The months of snow and ice ahead, seem long, and black as night.
A-midst the hustle and the bustle, of our busy lives today;
The mind can’t help but wonder, why God’s Light seems far away?
Where is that Star of David, in this holiest of seasons?
For the pundits all remind us, that the Christ Child is the reason.
Why we buy and wrap up gifts,
run around from store to store,
Pick a tree, drape strings of lights,
then go out and purchase more.
And let’s not forget the parties,
all those Christmas celebrations –
Food needs baking, cards need writing;
such important preparations!
There is much to plan and organize, the invites must be sent.
For the 25th is almost here, who knows where time has went?!
Take a moment; write a check, to a worthwhile charity.
That’s a good deed, buys some peace, keep’s the conscience clear and free.
And as for Bethlehem’s bright Star, that heralded Christ’s birth –
Times have changed; God can’t know what it’s really like on earth.
Inhumane acts, children dying, look at poverty and war,
Disagreements, untold sorrow; great injustice, strife galore.
It hurts too much to see this,
for our own hearts ache as well.
And the answers to these problems
are far more than we can tell.
It is very overwhelming, and more so this time of year.
For all the busy in the world, cannot quell or dull our fears,
That the days might yet get darker, and cold icy winds will blow.
When Life’s path seems hard to walk, where can we turn or go?
Yet though the night seems blackest,
dawn is merely hours away.
And it’s the same with God’s Light,
shining strong and bright today;
As it did upon the shepherds,
tending flocks in lonely fields.
While angels sang their songs of joy,
for the Christ Child now revealed.
And the ancient world was hushed with awe, as the Prophets tales proved true.
That the Son of God had come to earth, so our lives might be renewed
The Star of Bethlehem’s still there, its light glows ever high.
A Beacon midst these troubled times, of God’s Love realized.
Life’s not easy, and God knows this… He hears what’s in your heart;
The worries and concerns, which can tear your world apart.
Amidst the darkest, bleakest day,
when troubles seem too near,
The Morning Star of God’s own Son,
shines brightly through our fears.
Reminding us to lift our eyes –
look to the heavens wide;
Open up our weary hearts,
and let the Christ Child deep inside.
That no matter where life takes us, we might carry God’s sure Light,
To show us where to turn, even in the darkest night.
So, when the road seems hard to walk, and hope feels faint and dim,
We know with faithful certainty… hearts can always turn to Him
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Begotten Son…
that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16)
May your Holiday be blessed with Light …
be it a candle or a star.

This was breathtaking. ❤️
As our family awaits the birth of a little boy (one day “late” now) our Christmas season has focused far more on this than on any of the other aspects of the season. A welcome change of perspective , and perhaps a shift that will carry on in the years ahead. I hope so.
What a special time of year to be expecting the birth of a child! And the focus is as it should be… a whole new perspective. Blessings for mother and baby… healthy and well!!! What an added time of joy for you and all the family.
