Take the ‘best of here and now’, wrote poet J.G. Whittier. Reflecting how our lives are like a tapestry. The changing seasons weaving a a colorful design, showing the pattern of our lives for all to see and share.

Wordsworth wrote, “The world is too much with us.” As Autumn with its colorful foliage dots the landscape, we are reminded that it’s okay to take a step back from the hectic pace of life, the better to refresh our hearts and souls.

A Quilt Corner Tale… the story behind the design and stitching of the Four Evangelists. Based on the illuminated Celtic manuscript of the Lindisfarne Gospels. Follow along, step-by-step as the artist takes you behind the how, and reasoning behind the making of this striking and unusual quilt.

August is the height of summer. Yet in nature it is the beginning of autumn… Lammas-tide. The harvests are being brought in, as we prepare for winter’s cold. This is a crossroads in time – space between the seasons. Jeremiah 6:16 reminds us to stand at this crossroads and look for the good way. It is there we discover God’s presence… regardless of season..

The pandemic changed how we live, as well as how we see the world today. We navigate choppy waters and find our way through contrary winds. But God does not leave us comfortless. Peter Marshall wrote how diamonds are made under pressure, and that great blessings can come out of difficulties. A hopeful and encouraging piece of reflection.

A Quilt Corner Tale… telling the story behind the design and stitching of the High Cross in the kirkyard of Kildalton Abbey. One of the oldest and most historical treasures of its kind. It depicts some of the beautiful surrounding scenery on the Isle of Mull. And is framed within a border that showcases a variety of wildflowers from all over Scotland. Just a gorgeous and very unique piece of work.

The Oak tree symbolizes the season of mid-summer. It is a tree of strength, wisdom and courage…. an inspiration. For this is a time when all nature awakens to the beauty of life around us. Nature is bursting with new growth… blossoms and blooms. Infusing our spirits with hope and promise. Allow it to fill you with inspiration, and revel in the joy of an abundant life!!

We are always seeing to the needs of others. But what of our needs. Where do you go when the well runs dry? It is important to give ourselves consideration. Jesus spoke about “springs of living waters,” that renew our spirit and replenish the soul. It is ours for the asking if we listen to our hearts. A well where the waters never run dry… and we will never thirst. Allow yourself this gift from the Father.

An inspirational poem based on the beautiful 23rd Psalm. Serving as a reminder that God’s love and presence is always there to comfort and sustain.
A Quilt Corner Tale… a fractured landscape of two beautiful irises against a background of wood and fern. Follow the artist step-by-step as she explains how to ‘fracture’ a quilt scene… and then sew it back together again. This makes for a very colorful tale!!!

A Quilt Corner Tale… the story behind the artist’s fractured landscape of Stirling Castle. How she came to render the scene into fabric, and the reasoning behind the choice of presentation and materials. It was made in memory of family who served in the Scottish regiments headquartered there. A tribute of love and honor.
